Return of Werdna marks history, you play the role of the evil mage

This Wizardry 4 bestiary is a collection of all the enemies you will face in Return of Werdna. In this game, the enemies are the do-gooder. The heroes. They come alone and also they come in groups with names and mottos. They drop many items and other gear. See the list below.

Resistances

Resistances protect from Spells by element or status effect. A foe might be Resistant to Fire, Cold, Poison, Stoning, Level Drain, or Magic in general. Some foes are Resistant to all of it, consider swinging a Sword at those foes.

Abilities

Some foes and hero classes have particular Abilities tied to their attacks. These can have spell like effects but are triggered by their standard attacks. Notable examples are Instant Kill or Paralyze. Other examples are Breath which targets multiple. Help will call for help which may add foes to the encounter. Level Drain will take away your experience levels. Run which will allow foes to run away and you will not get XP for those foes.

Table of Regular Guardians

There are 3 different pictures that you will see for the regular guardians. The picture indicates the strength of the enemy. This information will help you cast the appropriate spell to dispatch them most efficiently, assuming all goes well, and it never does.

For example, A MAKANITO spell will almost always destroy Picture I characters, have a modest chance of slaying a Picture II, but has nearly zero effect on a Picture III character. A LAKANITO always kills a Picture I, has very high chance of killing a Picture II, and occasionally defeats a Picture III.

All picture I guardians appear on levels 10-8, except for Ninjas. Picture I Ninjas and all Picture II guardians appear on levels 7-5. All picture III guardians appear on levels 3-1. Level 4 is a mixture of II and III.
