Select your targets intentionally. Focus fire weaker enemies until dead, a damaged foe still does full damage. You can mouse-click precisely to choose your melee targets. Right-click to check HPs. If the mouse is hovering your target, (a)ttack will target them. Ranged attacks, however, will hit the foes in front.

During combat, loot foes to clear the floor at the feet of your enemies. In large packs, it is often easier to find your target’s legs.

Progression

There are a multitude of ways you can play Might and Magic 6: Mandate of Heaven and here is just one example that you can ignore, follow, or review for reference.

Quick Starts

The dungeons in New Sorpigal are not trivial. Selecting what you do at the start of the game can define how difficult the initial dungeons will be.

Basic Bow quick-start…
The basic bow quick start is to visit the Inn right away to earn 1000 gold. Next, explore all the buildings in New Sorpigal to collect quests and buy up the Guild memberships. You can also sell the starting Rings that do nothing. Check in at the Town Hall between 10-2 to get the Goblinwatch key and quest. You can travel to Ironfist Castle to earn 4000 gold for initial quests. Buy Bow skill and a Bow for all characters. You can now clear most of the Castle Ironfist and New Sorpigal surface areas, there are chests scattered around. It can be helpful to find a Scholar Hireling for free identification. Burglar or Locksmith will help getting into Chests without taking damage. Gear up and Level Up before you venture into Goblinwatch as your first dungeon.
Optimized Stats quick-start…
This quick-start is about exploiting all the +2 Stat boosts which only work as long as your stat value is < 15. Refer to the early-game permanent boosts for more information.

Create a party where ALL characters have a 12 value for a few stats. At the start of the game travel to the appropriate stat boosts to turn those 12s into 16s for free! It is possible to reach ALL of the stat boosts at level 1 but you will need travel gold and a few Hirelings. Bootleg Bay and Silver Cove will require traversing water. Mire of the Damned is the most dangerous to reach but with 4 solid bow users and a smart route, it is very possible to clear your way to the fountain at character Level 1.

Dungeon Order

There is no single perfect dungeon order. It can work a lot of ways based on your party make-up, play style, and luck. Generally, you will want to start completing quests and clearing dungeons as you explore new areas and get stronger, soon enough you will be strong enough to tackle the Council Quests. Refer to the Class section for details on Promotions quests.

If you want a little guidance (and a lot of spoiler), refer to the this article about using data to pick next location.
