MM7 Hirelings can be found and hired to bolster your party. The characters you see walking around towns are often available for hire. Your party only has 2 spots for hirelings and so selecting hirelings with the right Profession is important. You can dismiss and change hirelings throughout the playthrough but each time you pay the up-front cost again. Once you dismiss a hireling they are gone and you cannot rehire them but you may find another hireling with the same abilities.
The area you are in dictates which Professions you may find. For example, you will never find a Path Finder or Gate Master on Emerald Island. The Profession for an NPC is determined when the area is loaded, thus Save and Load will refresh the workforce.
