MM7 Skills

All characters start the game with 4 Novice Skills each at Skill Level 1. Once the game starts, the only way to acquire new Novice level skills is to buy them from one of many Vendors. You can find Novice Skill Vendors in various shops and guilds. Guilds specifically, will require a Membership before they will work with you.

In order to raise your Expertise in a Skill above Novice you need to add Skill Points and find a Teacher that can teach you the next Expertise. For all skills, the requirement to learn Expert Expertise is Skill Level 4 and you will need 9 Skill Points to reach Skill Level 4. It takes one point more than the current skill level to raise it higher, thus, to go from Skill Level 1 to 4 you spend 2+3+4 or 9 Skill Points.

Skill Points are earned when you Train new Character Levels. You get 5 skill points for each level 2-9, 6 skills points for each level 10-19, and so on–if you reach Character Level 100 you will have 955 Skill Points, way more than you need.

Character Class determines the maximum expertise possible for a given skill and some skills and totally unavailable for some Classes.
