Wizardry 8 Hirelings, also called Recruitable Player Characters (RPC), may join your party when you find them. Once you recruit 2 RPC you will have 8 player characters.

RPC will earn XP and level up just like your custom characters. You must include the active RPC when factoring your Average Party Level. RPC will avoid certain locations and will threaten to leave when you explore those areas, this is unavoidable but preparing for it is helpful. Further, you will be able to hire them again later.
